A NEW OCT. 31ST HOLIDAY: 'HALLOWED BE THY NAME'

The following document was submitted this April 2026 as both a bill and a resolution for Hallowed Be Thy Name to be added to our U.S. holiday calendar. As of today, it has yet to be presented to our U.S. Congress. Thus, I am sharing this document publicly with the hopes that a Congressional Representative will present for future adoption for national or initially statewide adoption.

| WHEREAS traditionally October 31st has only been a day reserved for celebrating Halloween, which has its origins in the occult and traditions rooted in a fear of harm being done to others if certain practices are not performed. WHEREAS this bill does not seek to abolish the celebration of Halloween but only to introduce to society another celebratory alternative to be done on the same date of October 31st nationwide. WHEREAS the alternative event, ‘Hallowed Be Thy Name’, is to allow Christians and other religions to celebrate and worship God on this date in formal and informal ways throughout the United States. WHEREAS alternative God-honoring events have already started to emerge throughout the United States on October 31st due to the negative influence that the celebration of Halloween has incited. WHEREAS Halloween has increasingly become a day for increased crime for law enforcement and for the FBI nationwide on Oct. 31st. For law enforcement, Halloween or October 31st has become a date to expect a 50% increase in violent crimes across the United States (https://www.msj.edu/news/2022/10/survive-the-night-dangers-of-halloween.html, October 17, 2022). WHEREAS according to crime statistics for “Major Violent Crimes and Arrests” committed on October 31st or Halloween and closely afterwards, the state of Florida has been included for the past 6 years. Also, the state of Michigan continues to be a state that has had major FBI plots thwarted on or around Halloween (Google AI search results years 2020-2025, reported 02/09/26; see Research Addendum. WHEREAS the top Halloween crimes reported to be committed in the state of Florida on October 31st are: DUIs, under-age drinking and other alcohol-related crimes; property crimes, such as vandalism and theft, primarily, car theft (https://gansjustice.com/top-halloween-crimes-committed-in-florida/, Brandon Gans, Gans Law/Cases, Courts, March 2, 2022.) WHEREAS the proposed alternative event, ‘Hallowed Be Thy Name’ would provide several tangible benefits to all states in the United States. If kids and adults are provided with an opportunity to participate in a state and nationally recognized, positive alternative on October 31st rather than participating in Halloween, we could see a decrease in these rising violent crime statistics done on and following Halloween’s observance. This alternative event also has the potential to positively impact celebrations across the world done on October 31st by adopting a similar measure. WHEREAS, be it Resolved that the United States Congressional offices support the recognition of the celebratory event, ‘Hallowed Be Thy Name’, to be added nationally to the calendar date, October 31st to be enacted on or before {Insert date to be enacted}. |
